Verde Floral Designs is a Mashpee-based florist known for custom arrangements, unique European-inspired floral design, and floral delivery services to select Cape Cod towns. Today, the studio is owned and led by Hira Rafiq, whose passion for flowers and dedication to high-quality artistry shape the experience our clients know and love.
Hira believes in the emotional impact of flowers—how they can lift someone’s mood, soften a moment, or make a celebration unforgettable. Her vision guides everything we create, from daily Cape Cod flower delivery orders to wedding florals and full event designs. Under Hira’s leadership, Verde continues to grow while staying true to its roots: meaningful design, premium blooms, and a genuine connection with our community.
How Verde Floral Designs STARTED
Verde Floral Designs was founded in 2012 by Jeff Sawyer, whose lifelong love of flowers and memories of exploring her grandmother’s gardens inspired her to pursue floral design after retirement. When Jeff moved to the Cape, she enrolled in floral design classes and discovered research on the uplifting, mood-elevating qualities of flowers. This became the heart of her mission—to create joy through beautiful, intentional floral arrangements for the Cape Cod community.
During her years building Verde, Jeff met Hira, who shared her dedication, work ethic, and passion for the craft. Their connection came naturally, and in December 2020, Hira transitioned from store manager to owner—carrying forward Jeff’s vision while introducing her own refined approach to design and strengthening Verde’s reputation as a trusted Mashpee florist.
The Meaning Behind “Verde”
The name Verde—meaning “green” in several languages—symbolizes growth, renewal, and abundance. Green is where every plant begins, and for us, it represents new beginnings and the universal language of nature. It reflects our belief that flowers aren’t just decorative—they bring comfort, joy, and connection to everyday life.

Our style blends the natural beauty of Cape Cod with the elegance of European floral design. The coastal landscape inspires our palettes and textures, while European principles guide our structure, movement, and use of premium materials. The result is floral work that feels organic, airy, and timeless—intentionally crafted to complement both modern and classic Cape Cod settings.

What Makes Us Different
Verde Floral Designs is an independent Cape Cod florist—not affiliated with Teleflora or any mass-produced wire-service network. Every arrangement is custom designed in-house using premium, fresh blooms and an artistic, personal approach. We don’t rely on templates or standardized “menu” arrangements. Instead, each order is crafted with intention and finished with a handwritten card to provide a meaningful, one-of-a-kind floral experience.
Our Floral Services
As a full-service florist serving Mashpee and the surrounding Cape Cod communities, we offer floral services for both everyday moments and life’s most meaningful occasions. Our team designs and delivers arrangements for celebrations, milestones, and simple gestures “just because.”
We create wedding florals for intimate gatherings as well as full-scale events. We also craft thoughtful sympathy arrangements for the home or for service settings, offering comfort through flowers when words aren’t enough.
For those who enjoy hands-on creativity, we host seasonal floral workshops. And for homes or offices that love having fresh flowers on repeat, we offer curated floral subscriptions tailored to your preferred style and schedule.

Community connection is at the heart of our studio. We donate weekly arrangements to Tommy’s Place, support floral workshops at Laurentide, decorate for Mashpee Chamber’s La Tavola celebration, contribute to the Cahoon Museum of Art, support the Mashpee High School Southport scholarship fund, and offer holiday décor discounts for Falmouth Hospital.
